About Yorkshire Van Man

How do I get a quote?

The easiest way is to fill in our quote form online – just tell us what needs moving, where from, and where to, and we’ll come back to you with a straightforward price. You can also call us on 0113 217 3711, email info@yorkshirevanman.co.uk, or drop us a WhatsApp on 07849 026 842

Are you just one man with a van?

We started out that way, but we’ve grown into a team of six fully trained drivers and handlers. You still get the personal service of a small business – just with more people and more vans behind it.

What areas do you cover?

We’re based in north Leeds and cover the whole of Yorkshire, the rest of the UK, and internationally. If you’re not sure whether we cover your area, just give us a call – the answer is almost certainly yes.

Is there a limit to how far you'll travel?

No – driving is what we do. Whether it’s across Leeds or across Europe, we’ll take it on. Get in touch and we’ll work out the details.

Can you deliver into the EU and internationally?

Yes – we’re fully licensed to operate across the UK and the European Union. For destinations outside the EU, we work with trusted partners to make it happen. Just get in touch and we’ll talk through what’s involved.

Do you work weekends?

Yes, we work seven days a week. The more notice you can give us for weekend bookings, the better – but we’ll always do our best to accommodate you.

How big are your vans?

We use Luton vans, which hold up to 20 cubic metres of cargo – enough for a standard two-bedroom house move or around six pallets’ worth of goods.

Do you offer waste clearance?

We do, and it’s one of our core services. We’re fully licensed waste carriers registered with the Environment Agency. You can find out more on our Waste Clearance page.

Pricing & Payment

Are there any hidden charges?

No. The price we quote is the price you pay, as long as the job matches what you’ve described. If anything changes on the day that affects the cost, we’ll always tell you in advance.

When do I need to pay?

Payment is typically due on completion of the job. For some bookings we may ask for a bank transfer in advance to secure the date – we’ll let you know if that applies to you.

Are deposits refundable?

Deposits are non-refundable once paid. If you need to reschedule, see our cancellation policy below.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel a booking without additional charge. If you’re on a busy date, we’ll flag any exceptions before you confirm. To move a booking to an earlier date, we need at least seven days’ notice.

Can I cancel by text or WhatsApp?

Yes – but make sure you receive confirmation from us that the cancellation has been processed. If you’re not sure, give us a call on 0113 217 3711 to confirm.

Booking & Logistics

Can you do same-day or next-day bookings?

Sometimes, yes. Give us a call and we’ll let you know what we can do – and if we can’t fit you in, we’ll point you in the right direction.

Do I need to be home during the job?

It helps to be there, particularly at the delivery end so you can direct where everything goes. If you can’t be present, get in touch and we’ll talk through how to make it work.

How do I know you'll actually turn up?

Once a booking is confirmed, we’re committed to it. We don’t bump booked customers for higher-paying jobs – your booking is your booking.

Can you move two students at the same time to save costs?

Yes – we’re happy to combine student moves to save you both money. Get in touch together and we’ll sort a group booking.

On the Day

Is there a time limit for my job?

We always make sure we’ve got enough time scheduled for each job. We won’t rush you – if something takes longer than expected, we’ll deal with it properly.

Can I travel in the van with the driver?

Yes – our vans have two passenger seats and you’re welcome to ride along at no extra charge.

Will anyone else's belongings be in the van?

In most cases you’ll have exclusive use of the van. If anything else is on board, we’ll make sure it doesn’t affect your move in any way.

Can I help with loading?

Absolutely – any help you can offer saves time and keeps costs down. We just ask that you keep items out of the rain and away from the van until we’re ready to load them.

Do you unload at the other end too?

That’s what we’re there for. We’ll handle the unloading and get everything where it needs to go – just tell us where you want things and we’ll take care of it.

Do you take your shoes off inside?

We keep our boots on for safety reasons – we’re moving heavy items and footwear is part of our kit. We’ll always do our best to keep things clean and tidy.

Packing, Furniture & Specialist Items

Do you supply packing materials?

Yes – we can supply the packaging materials you need for your move. Just mention it when you get in touch and we’ll factor it in.

Can you dismantle furniture?

We’re happy to dismantle most furniture as part of your move – our team are trained to do it properly. For more specialist items, it’s worth giving us a quick call to check before you book.

Do you reassemble furniture too?

If we’ve taken it apart, we’ll put it back together. Reassembly is included on any job where we’ve done the dismantling.

Can you move heavy or awkward items?

Yes – we move all sorts, including upright pianos and heavy gym equipment. If you’ve got something unusual, just describe it when you get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s involved.

Should I unplug my washing machine before you arrive?

If you can, yes – it’s worth doing in advance. If you need a hand with it, we can help, but we can’t take responsibility for any leaks or damage to flooring that can sometimes occur when pipes are disconnected. It’s worth protecting the floor around it too.

Can you move a gas barbecue?

Yes, as long as it’s been fully disconnected and emptied of gas beforehand.

Can you take pets?

We can’t carry animals in our vans – our insurance doesn’t cover it. Sorry about that one.

Parking & Access

Parking at my property is residents only - what should I do?

If you can, contact whoever manages parking at your property and arrange a space for us close to the entrance on moving day. The closer we can park, the quicker and smoother the job will be.

My street is narrow - how do I make sure there's space?

It helps to reserve a space in advance – park your own car where you’d like us to pull up, and use wheelie bins either side to hold it. Give us a heads up about any access issues when you book.

Who pays for parking?

Any parking charges are the customer’s responsibility. If you know there are likely to be costs on your street, let us know in advance so we can factor it in.

Do your vans comply with Clean Air Zone requirements?

Our vans can enter Clean Air Zones, but any applicable charges are passed on to the customer. If your collection or delivery address is in a CAZ, let us know when booking.

Vehicles & Reliability

Are your vans clean and well maintained?

Yes – our vans are regularly cleaned and serviced. We take pride in turning up with a vehicle that’s in good shape, inside and out.

What happens if your van breaks down?

It’s rare, but if it happens we’ll sort it – whether that means switching to another vehicle or arranging a hire. Once you’re booked in with us, we’ll get the job done.

Insurance & Damage

Are you insured?

Yes – we carry up to £20,000 cover for your goods in transit, £5 million public liability insurance, and £10 million employer’s insurance.

What if something is lost or damaged?

It doesn’t happen often, but if it does we’re insured to cover repair, replacement or reimbursement. Just let us know as soon as possible and we’ll deal with it.

Will you repaint walls if they get marked?

We take every care to avoid marks and scuffs, but moving heavy items through tight spaces carries an inherent risk. We can’t cover the cost of redecorating, but we’ll always do our best to leave your home in the same condition we found it.
